<p dir="ltr">I'm not sure if anyone still reads this, but here's a quick post from my smartphone. </p>
<p dir="ltr">This week is the 16th of July which constitutes a big feast in my hometown. In honor of this Italian feast, I of course did my nails. This design was hand painted, but then I went to my local nail salon to have a UV gel topcoat applied. I really should invest in a UV light!<br></p>
<p dir="ltr">That's it for <u>now</u>. Drop me a comment if you're still reading!</p>

<br />
Today I have for you some old pictures that originally appeared as a guest post on <a href="http://cydonianmakeup.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Wendy's blog</a>, but since I've gotten a <span style="font-size: xx-small;">tiny</span> bit better at photo editing I figured I'd give them a second chance. I've also been missing my long nails since I recently chopped them lower than ever (pictures to come!).<br />
<br />
First I have pictures of Zoya Breezi (blue) and OPI Manicurist of Seville (red). Then, I'll show you what can happen with a little layering magic!<br />

This is a scheduled post so as you're reading this, I'm moving into my on-campus apartment for my senior year of college!<br />
<br />
If you're a long-time reader of C&C, you'll probably remember that I very rarely post during the semester because I'm super busy all the time, but I've been saving posts that I should have been making this week with the intent to use them throughout the coming weeks. As always, thanks for your support, your comments, and sticking with me even if I'm not the most consistent blogger. You're all so awesome =]<br />
<br />
Anyway, back to what this is supposed to be about: smoky eyes. The term "smoky eyes" can either make people extremely excited or extremely nervous. For example, upon hearing someone say they wanted to do a smoky eye for prom makeup, my dad said, "Isn't that what they do on Jerseylicious?" My father only knows that because of my mother and my slight obsession with that show. That would be an example of being nervous! Hahaha.<br />
<br />
Every time I try to do a smoky eye, I stop and think, "This needs to be darker; it's a SMOKY eye, right?" and I keep piling it on until I look like I'm dressed up as something frightening for Halloween. These were a little easier to do and less harsh-looking. Here's what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgiNib2HJDeBS4XMiqxERGYHALinjw8L7AixUdqKrNugwRbDNoCOtXlwxA5OuGCKjf53uzXfv9Sn_1OEmzbbgo2CxdhKC-xE3hbQyiThO5BL4DLRuZsnPHr1dtj4y85dbbbEnSOakxcP8/s1600/107_13781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="144" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgiNib2HJDeBS4XMiqxERGYHALinjw8L7AixUdqKrNugwRbDNoCOtXlwxA5OuGCKjf53uzXfv9Sn_1OEmzbbgo2CxdhKC-xE3hbQyiThO5BL4DLRuZsnPHr1dtj4y85dbbbEnSOakxcP8/s320/107_13781.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ-oS2AIpzF1OwoSnX-8xJSJSXiJpdPniwqc_BFYpydr2cll4LpjTUkbX89EMqZ2Yf9-R_NdMhi78qICeoAGGxCqTLhsqBcFqDTak0JOI56Ed2rE04mBS4euKdCSPRpQVnA0pqa7SHjq0/s1600/107_13581.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ-oS2AIpzF1OwoSnX-8xJSJSXiJpdPniwqc_BFYpydr2cll4LpjTUkbX89EMqZ2Yf9-R_NdMhi78qICeoAGGxCqTLhsqBcFqDTak0JOI56Ed2rE04mBS4euKdCSPRpQVnA0pqa7SHjq0/s320/107_13581.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL-m7Jg-Q_oVoXIEv8dsUsiUVOQaapYjpIx0s81RSGoa2E0ouNbCCnf-5ZJ1T9zV7gI-TwEKnUQkLU-0ieC6tl_wfnWOqMjrFSDqJWa1wkGMd2fhIQumf8FZJ7-C0B0I7gdQgeCso6kL4/s1600/107_1372.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL-m7Jg-Q_oVoXIEv8dsUsiUVOQaapYjpIx0s81RSGoa2E0ouNbCCnf-5ZJ1T9zV7gI-TwEKnUQkLU-0ieC6tl_wfnWOqMjrFSDqJWa1wkGMd2fhIQumf8FZJ7-C0B0I7gdQgeCso6kL4/s320/107_1372.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The main shadows here are MAC Parisian Skies and Palladio Teal (applied wet with a liner brush to the lower lashline)<br />
<br />
<br />
As a brown-eyed girl, I love using blue whenever I can. Usually it's in the form of a tiny bit of teal on the lash line, but MAC Parisian Skies changed everything I used to think about using blue on my eyes. This is gorgeous and classier than what comes to mind when you think of blue eyeshadow.<br />
<br />
So, I learned that I should go for the gray or any muted, grayed out shades when I try to pull off a smoky eye and instead of looking like I just got into a fist fight, I could maybe look a little bit sophisticated. Hmm, who know?<br />
<br />
So that's my post for today! I hope everyone enjoyed it. What's your opinion on smoky eyes or blue eyeshadow?<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />

<br />
Today I have for you a short post featuring China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (one of my top shades of all time) and Crushed Candy, the "For Audrey"-esque crackle. These two make a pretty pair!<br />
<br />
WARNING: My auto white balance feature on my photo editing program made the bottom two pictures look really strange. Me being editing/photography-incompetent, I didn't know how to make it look normal. My background in these photos was white but the auto white balance made it look green. The polishes look brighter and accurate though, and that's why I kept the white-balancing on two of these.<br />

What do you think of this look? Are you over crackles? Or now that they're not as popular, are you wanting to reach for them again? I was never really obsessed; I just casually use them when I think of it to spice up a manicure. Still like them!<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So as you may have read <a href="http://cleverandcolorful.blogspot.com/2012/07/batman-inspired-nails-for-otakon.html" target="_blank">in a past post</a>, I went to Baltimore last month. While I was there, there was nothing for me to do but eat and shop, so I'm going to show you all what I bought.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">First I hit Forever XXI. I love how inexpensive this store is, especially the beauty supplies. I bought a nail polish and two eye trios for a very low price...I want to say like $8.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The polish is a flakie in a sheer green base. It was the last one there and it has some boring name like "Light Green." It´s really pretty in person and for $2 you can't beat it. One trio is a pale yellow, warm light pink, and light purple. The other is neutrals: a pale beige, medium brown, and a cool darker brown. They all had pretty good pigmentation. I like them for travel or to leave in my bag.</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Finally we have Claire's, where I bought a lot more than I thought. I blame the boredom. I went home with a sparkly headband, a duochrome polish, the precious metals mini collection, an ear cuff, and a hair donut.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"> This is a mini set, so each bottle is 0.25 mL, which is perfect for a mini bottle (NOT 0.125oz....you know who I'm looking at). These are gorgeous for layering. These are not small glitters; they're larger pieces than the ones I usually buy. On the left, we have a holo glitter, next a purple, green, and blue glitter, next a blue and purple glitter, then a pink glitter, and finally a black and holo glitter. I love the look of these big glitter pieces.</span><br />

This is Claire's Drops of Jupiter, which is from the Starstruck collection, which is pretty shimmers. Train earbug, anyone? This is a teal-to-pink duochrome with a glassfleck texture. I layered it over Zuza (and failed to take pictures) but the pink was fairly noticeable. I was afraid it wouldn't show up but it did make its appearance. Pretty shade, really cool bottle.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's a picture of my ear cuff. These have turned into my newest obsession and I plan on going back to get three more with my coupon. I've wanted a cartilage piercing for ages but since my parents have never been too keen on it, I'm stuck with these for a bit. But I love them! A warning though: the rainbow coloring on this one has completely rubbed off and it's now just silver, so if you buy it, put some clear polish over it to protect the coloring.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So that's about it. I haven't posted a haul in a long time...I've just found pictures in the abyss of my computer of about 6 of them...woops. With that, I'll talk to you later!</div>

Welcome to Part 2 of my haul! For part 1 and pictures/swatches of the UD Vegan Palette and Lip Love Gloss in Stung, click <a href="http://cleverandcolorful.blogspot.com/2012/08/urban-decay-haul-part-one.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
Now I'm going to show you the eyeshadow singles I selected at $9 each. I chose X, Mildew, and Last Call. As you can see, the shadows are packaged in a clear little box, and that box had a coordinating color label on it, which I thought was cute. X was pink, Last Call, purple, and Mildew, green. Just wanted to mention that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
X is a stunning pink with a strong gold sheen in the pan; when swatched, it's mostly a pale rose gold. Mildew is a deep olive shimmer that's darker than I expected. Last Call is a gorgeous deep shade bordering magenta and berry. This shade in particular is really unique in my collection.<br />
<br />
Here they are swatched dry:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiqAeVN_stlpNYXzgxb9Mu2ekRvNsqA33wQ9THTU6hq5xDUKtidmvjCx8mP_jkapM_R4AvjqAWK-TRHqdFykvGvYj7PwPrpa-27gxo9TjT1jc4zEngqnc_jPbRxYz7uQWKRO54V8q1IlM/s1600/107_1270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiqAeVN_stlpNYXzgxb9Mu2ekRvNsqA33wQ9THTU6hq5xDUKtidmvjCx8mP_jkapM_R4AvjqAWK-TRHqdFykvGvYj7PwPrpa-27gxo9TjT1jc4zEngqnc_jPbRxYz7uQWKRO54V8q1IlM/s320/107_1270.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
There was very little product on my finger, so the swatches are light. But rest assured they're very pigmented and smooth. X is a tad bit pinker in real life.<br />
<br />
<br />
Then I sprung for the Sparkling Lickable Body Powder. When this was on sale (it sadly isn't anymore), there were three shades pictured but only one was on sale, so that's the one I got. Here's Marshmallow, swatched next to the shadows. Note: now, since it's not on sale anymore, the font on the packaging is a different. I guess that's why they were cleaning out old ones.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
The packaging is so pretty and the container is huge! I also love the powder puff and can't wait to luxuriously dab it on before a night out (ha, who am I kidding?). This stuff smells super sweet; it's a little overpowering when it's all in the container, but on the skin it mellows out. The texture of this, and the appearance in general, reminds me a bit of a nail polish, oddly: Orly Winter Wonderland. There are sparkly tiny flakes that are iridescent white with hints of blue and pink. It's pretty up close but just appears white at a normal distance. It tastes good too!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Finally, I ordered the Body Jewelry Temporary Tattoos because they looked interesting and they are currently, wait for it, two whole dollars. Who could pass that up? They come in this huge roll thing that I can't figure out how to open. There's a <a href="http://www.urbandecay.com/body-jewelry-temporary-tattoos/270,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=13" target="_blank">video on the page for these tattoos</a> that shows these babies in action.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
One more thing that they included with my order: A Naked foundation sample! Seriously, I was/am more excited for this than anything else because I've been wanting to treat myself to a mid- or high-end foundation once my tan fades.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpS-qDzINDgKwx5YXqt5Xy5_SD7EQTLhQ-0Qs3HkzDqjcHZ0fzkSHTilvSpTyjhsgcwZmuJ4oxg8DDG8uNTqcUgpDys6ztkQP1s61FcX9yuL1ymW3TJtYB13-fOt01NLekVWOTJplNdSM/s1600/107_1265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpS-qDzINDgKwx5YXqt5Xy5_SD7EQTLhQ-0Qs3HkzDqjcHZ0fzkSHTilvSpTyjhsgcwZmuJ4oxg8DDG8uNTqcUgpDys6ztkQP1s61FcX9yuL1ymW3TJtYB13-fOt01NLekVWOTJplNdSM/s320/107_1265.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These samples are bigger than any other foundation samples I've ever received and I've gotten quite a few in my lifetime. There is definitely enough product in them for a full face. I'm excited to check out 2.0 because that's what the Urban Decay website suggested I try when I was researching this foundation; it was just luck that it was included in the sample though. The shades 3.5, 4.0, and 8.0 are also included. These are the ones UD considers to be their most popular.<br />

If you don't fit any of those shades, there is a transparent set of swatches that you can hold to your jawline to find your match.<br />

<br />
The first time I seriously started looking into buying Urban Decay products was with the release of the (say it with me) Naked Palette. I own a few brown eyeshadows, but of course, mine paled in comparison to the deep, rich, smoldering neutrals of that famous UD palette. But me being my indecisive-to-a-fault self - and partly, the price tag - I couldn't commit to ordering it. After the release of the Naked2 Palette, my fever grew worse; I poured over too many blogs, staring at swatches and watching videos comparing Naked 1 and Naked 2 (how many different swatches of the same palette can one girl look at? a ton.), now having the even-harder choice of deciding between them. What would it be, that rich gunmetal gray and lovely plum of 1 or that AMAZING double-sided brush and deep matte black of 2? Ultimately, I ended up set on getting Naked1 and continue to pray for UD to release that double-sided brush separately (it would save space when I travel!).<br />
<br />
Fast forward to August 9th, around 3AM EST:<br />
I'm perusing blogs, about 5 days behind on my trusty Google Reader, when I scroll across <a href="http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/2012/08/urban-decays-biggest-sale-of-year.html" target="_blank">THIS POST</a> by G. of <a href="http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Nouveau Cheap</a> (if you love cheap stuff, you're already following her). A massive Urban Decay sale! Oh, wait, it started 4 days ago. There's nothing good left.<br />
<br />
Side note: This ALWAYS happens to me when I'm behind on blogs. I miss out on sales or things that need my immediate attention. Like free facebook samples. Still bitter. ANYWAY. Moving on.<br />
<br />
I clicked on the link to the site anyway, and after reading a quick parody of Call Me Maybe advertising their sale, I started shopping. Two hours later (I'm a night owl), I had checked out, after having searched tons of swatches of the goodies being offered at amazing prices, deciding what I want, and committing to clicking the Checkout button and fill out all the information and confirm (am I the only one who has a hard time clicking 'Submit order'?) While I didn't end up with the Naked Palette, I ended up spending the same amount of money on a bunch of makeup that I love, instead of one palette.<br />
<br />
So now that that long story is over, here's part I of my haul and swatches!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggZMjQh5wvSglthmH_0d3cNuCgwErkL8VqmMK-7ETDIC2ombddmZXpo1qedo1qCc2G_qDJ56SNe5ZwTTokAKeHI6ZZvyUnewmX4WQLCEKg5PFu9pRLnBIumvlqGOOj1vleedXqtQEe7FU/s1600/107_1259.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggZMjQh5wvSglthmH_0d3cNuCgwErkL8VqmMK-7ETDIC2ombddmZXpo1qedo1qCc2G_qDJ56SNe5ZwTTokAKeHI6ZZvyUnewmX4WQLCEKg5PFu9pRLnBIumvlqGOOj1vleedXqtQEe7FU/s320/107_1259.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
First up is the Vegan Palette. This is honestly the best $13 I've ever spent; you get 6 eyeshadows, 3 of which are Naked dupes (and my most sought-after shades in the Naked palette), 1 mini 24/7 Liner and one mini UD Primer Potion in Sin. Imagine my excitement over this palette since I've never used a UD liner or UDPP in my life. Shocking, I know.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgumHqgLvKZX-gCFGLDTLXMGYuPw3rwo2aLtTAxIvZSm3nmH4tKPGpyTKxUPlRUfB7UqXSu4C-FT4lfNWQSb21-f_rCILoJ_K1NlMKpP2NXZtVzEzl_etHm4IeOFhJukeH2MlUBOVlsPwc/s1600/107_1260.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgumHqgLvKZX-gCFGLDTLXMGYuPw3rwo2aLtTAxIvZSm3nmH4tKPGpyTKxUPlRUfB7UqXSu4C-FT4lfNWQSb21-f_rCILoJ_K1NlMKpP2NXZtVzEzl_etHm4IeOFhJukeH2MlUBOVlsPwc/s320/107_1260.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The shades are Minx, Urb, Gunmetal, Twice Baked, Smog, and Half Baked. They're all gorgeous. Here are some swatches.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI8S0wRnl2NYW3VcX70Pfs2vSuKpf5y6HEHqtWFheuZ9r80bNtI_EVcCUzLjUtYYZRNMle3XVYr2DOhnncu-xDKF0FtJ9Bh04PloNakZLlEknX7yI0-Kc1YBY4ly1w-tIPyJXUnacgJ30/s1600/107_1279.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI8S0wRnl2NYW3VcX70Pfs2vSuKpf5y6HEHqtWFheuZ9r80bNtI_EVcCUzLjUtYYZRNMle3XVYr2DOhnncu-xDKF0FtJ9Bh04PloNakZLlEknX7yI0-Kc1YBY4ly1w-tIPyJXUnacgJ30/s320/107_1279.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Minx and Urb were hard to swatch since there are some glitter chunks in those shades. Once I start using the shadows I'm sure they'll be easier to pick up. The one I was most looking forward to (Die-hard UD fans are going to laugh) was Half Baked. It's in a ton of their palettes, I know, but it's such a pretty shimmery gold-brown fusion and I love it. Plus, I'm new to Urban Decay, remember?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWXmLmV2pur2T3M_nE5WQoxtKsFpGGi6DS29RhW7AkcUdjOJ4j3J2ZpHRNqktxyBvQ_wknzlpp3L0BjIpFZTh_wDrhqTVYtWXu7ywWU0nje-PaIcS81diY_wVqguaF2MPcYU73pjIr8YY/s1600/107_1249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWXmLmV2pur2T3M_nE5WQoxtKsFpGGi6DS29RhW7AkcUdjOJ4j3J2ZpHRNqktxyBvQ_wknzlpp3L0BjIpFZTh_wDrhqTVYtWXu7ywWU0nje-PaIcS81diY_wVqguaF2MPcYU73pjIr8YY/s320/107_1249.JPG" width="231" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next I have Lip Love Lipgloss in Stung. This was a whopping $4 and Stung was the only shade available for that price. It looked scary in the picture and swatched on the skin; it's a very deep berry color that looks close to black, but in swatches it sheers out on the lips to produce a nice berry tint. It's a squeeze tube that has a slanted tip.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUQBq_s0Uq3aFZpYyKtX5xDFiBTXQWew0j1cdfd9JJ08aUS1qQVVIrsUr-bfzxMPUNlP8L2P5ZQ4yk6at23vB_QDwQRd03Clg7CtR0bt5j1KDOgN-hZoPwFu8RBTf-VofvgV5IhX2aP7E/s1600/107_1255.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUQBq_s0Uq3aFZpYyKtX5xDFiBTXQWew0j1cdfd9JJ08aUS1qQVVIrsUr-bfzxMPUNlP8L2P5ZQ4yk6at23vB_QDwQRd03Clg7CtR0bt5j1KDOgN-hZoPwFu8RBTf-VofvgV5IhX2aP7E/s320/107_1255.JPG" width="320" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGzt7UXYxyiEerORqt2X999cfhDow1QtPqlBdZokedb0bMd9mEv5cylhWwj6nzoqyDdRdwKERuYpihooIJA1Q6kBiEtCUGV4Wym2XsaF4vKIvvweDipw5vSa_BIuXQM6zyxO42jJjpJD0/s1600/107_1251.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGzt7UXYxyiEerORqt2X999cfhDow1QtPqlBdZokedb0bMd9mEv5cylhWwj6nzoqyDdRdwKERuYpihooIJA1Q6kBiEtCUGV4Wym2XsaF4vKIvvweDipw5vSa_BIuXQM6zyxO42jJjpJD0/s320/107_1251.JPG" width="201" /></a></div>
<br />
Once I swatched this I noticed two things: 1) It smells like baby powder. Odd, but true. It's really weird, but it didn't bother me too much. Just something to mention if smells, especially such specific ones, are definitely not your thing. 2) This feels AMAZING on the lips. It has a very thick consistency, which I thought would make it very sticky, but it is the least sticky gloss I've ever used. It feels like a creamy gel on top of the lips and after removal, your lips feel baby soft. Considering buying a backup or a different shade before the sale's over.<br />

<br />
I also ordered the Lickable Body Powder, Body Jewelry Temporary Tattoos and some single eyeshadows which I'm reviewing in a second post because I don't want to make this post any longer. It will be up later tonight!<br />
<br />
Everything mentioned in this post is still on the Urban Decay website, though perhaps not at the sale price. Go snatch some stuff up!<br />
<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for part 2!<br />

<br />
Today I have for you a blue! I always get compliments when I wear blue (I think because it pops against my warm undertones) and it had been a while since I'd worn a great blue polish, so that was the choice for my most recent mani.<br />
<br />
The base color here is OPI Ogre the Top Blue from the Spring 2010 Shrek Collection. It's a really saturated bright blue cream. I color corrected this photo so though my hands are red, the polish is pretty accurate.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvjSsYpvivQMsGv-mMb_6r6iNJmuGeokw-XqQZo5aSzTfNpStIsNtGIzHExu2Ry9ZcPpBAB6R-RDBT-6wlH4H4jc1ttFUp6eO8Vus2NgdPIhrn78DVhzn7P2l6R6zfs90_03TpmcWbpA/s1600/107_1201.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvjSsYpvivQMsGv-mMb_6r6iNJmuGeokw-XqQZo5aSzTfNpStIsNtGIzHExu2Ry9ZcPpBAB6R-RDBT-6wlH4H4jc1ttFUp6eO8Vus2NgdPIhrn78DVhzn7P2l6R6zfs90_03TpmcWbpA/s400/107_1201.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I loveee creams, so I didn't think I'd have the heart to top this off with a glitter, but once I tried it on my ring finger, I went ahead and did all my nails! This is Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk, a melange of blue, purple, and green glitter in a sheer blue base. To my eye, the purple and green glitter are slightly larger pieces than the blue, which makes for a really cool textured effect. Pick this one up if you love glitter!<br />

<br />
Today I have for you some more nail art. Yaaaay!<br />
<br />
I asked on Twitter if someone could suggest any nail art ideas for me, and my lovely friend Heather of <a href="http://letbeautyblossom.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Let Beauty Blossom</a> told me to do a design inspired by her pillow. I was a little hesitant, but after clicking the photo, I fell in love with the colors and the Moroccan-like design.<br />
<br />
Heather's pillow:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://p.twimg.com/Azp_XxuCYAAur7i.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://p.twimg.com/Azp_XxuCYAAur7i.jpg:large" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I set out to create this design. I had mostly the right colors (China Glaze Kalahari Kiss would have been nice, but I passed on that one and am going back to buy it!). Here's what I came up with:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQLTPCDe5q8m_gjeAXTFK4iaz3HuEqdu3VEuetGL9eFWebk3SJ3a8JVQFkuWd60iH9c3gdPt6OAD16_3btwRehC3Rmp45x3L7WQc6zOW-XUcLnkX92gdm0Rna7tuB9_520Z2YKS5AdUFc/s1600/107_1192.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQLTPCDe5q8m_gjeAXTFK4iaz3HuEqdu3VEuetGL9eFWebk3SJ3a8JVQFkuWd60iH9c3gdPt6OAD16_3btwRehC3Rmp45x3L7WQc6zOW-XUcLnkX92gdm0Rna7tuB9_520Z2YKS5AdUFc/s400/107_1192.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLzRDsgkMxblOzZC-ItESrSMn00x11uOfhV4KJoXwaU1XZwX9Q_bQtZ8oFJft6OxBv2wAtizP_-g6oJGfSwNvAEQRS6d5KZvnyAGiK8ykQ5_NqEP9ql_1Jv9UyoEiSN5URwjTMyXEmoY/s1600/107_1196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkLzRDsgkMxblOzZC-ItESrSMn00x11uOfhV4KJoXwaU1XZwX9Q_bQtZ8oFJft6OxBv2wAtizP_-g6oJGfSwNvAEQRS6d5KZvnyAGiK8ykQ5_NqEP9ql_1Jv9UyoEiSN5URwjTMyXEmoY/s400/107_1196.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm sure you can point out the sections that inspired each nail (if you feel like it). Not my most perfect work, but I like it =] Here's what I used:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A dotting tool and nail art brush</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Reds: OPI Conquistadorable Color and Bullish on OPI</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oranges: Sally Hansen Sun Kissed and China Glaze Desert Sun</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Browns: OPI San Tan-tonio and Essie Little Brown Dress</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Gold: A very old Avon Striping Polish</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Whitish: Champagne Stripe Rite topped with a no-name sheer white</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81gTlVAwP63G0vbALzS6e1T7D9sAi2oJIVZIfb0Tdqh_MLEWeiMSv_ESKqPSFxVHWYh96fh6NsLDlUoVKI10hhgTTW8Vemb5oi6cdcMOBuIibuHGAJTtSXRja_s0waSoTLFAC2GGA21o/s1600/107_1194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81gTlVAwP63G0vbALzS6e1T7D9sAi2oJIVZIfb0Tdqh_MLEWeiMSv_ESKqPSFxVHWYh96fh6NsLDlUoVKI10hhgTTW8Vemb5oi6cdcMOBuIibuHGAJTtSXRja_s0waSoTLFAC2GGA21o/s400/107_1194.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And my elusive right hand. Thumb to pinky the shades are OPI Conquistadorable Color, Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, China Glaze Desert Sun, OPI CC, and OPI San Tan-tonio. I planned on adding some art to my right hand, but time got away from me and I wanted to get the pictures before the sun set. Besides, I kind of like having an 'accent hand.' <strike>Or is that just me making excuses for being lazy?</strike></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strike><br /></strike></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So that's it for now. Have you ever found inspiration from household items? Special thanks to <a href="http://letbeautyblossom.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Heather</a> for the suggestion! Go follow her! And if anyone else has any nail art inspiration for me, please share!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for reading,</div>

<br />
I'm back today with two colors from the Zoya Surf Collection that came out this summer. I really liked the look of these two together so I decided to pair them together. Here are Zoya Zuza (blue) and Zoya Myrta (orange).<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zj18heKLFSCDTJDIbdeGSspMdVQDhA3auT_L-pACBBt603euRyPBvEE8pYptnfpsqSx-EhR8VKlboW5OOzNEJsCrx3HFbplhTL9tdyQTZEJurX7lpJcECpXnj6mw7DcNtN1IEfgP7zA/s1600/107_1091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zj18heKLFSCDTJDIbdeGSspMdVQDhA3auT_L-pACBBt603euRyPBvEE8pYptnfpsqSx-EhR8VKlboW5OOzNEJsCrx3HFbplhTL9tdyQTZEJurX7lpJcECpXnj6mw7DcNtN1IEfgP7zA/s320/107_1091.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Truest to color</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzjAMaKCusYEnFbQt8G0x8iQVkSQ6jtqwSRfmCRxPHQ8nDrP81-idgkMrLVX8TUQzhufbh7llu2DfsJcs4BIe3fBp1w-u4fd_j14Zqzpd0bXLqn4YbRsIpDo7UtR6GNfvpeqCFjOJIj7o/s1600/107_1093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzjAMaKCusYEnFbQt8G0x8iQVkSQ6jtqwSRfmCRxPHQ8nDrP81-idgkMrLVX8TUQzhufbh7llu2DfsJcs4BIe3fBp1w-u4fd_j14Zqzpd0bXLqn4YbRsIpDo7UtR6GNfvpeqCFjOJIj7o/s320/107_1093.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnkh0zK_qjW7Rkc25qJMq3jP0G33iUNNUC3HqgOTQvdbk77h71jFwnNL1LuawwDjOny8hsSQPa5uFiRcpjdohEqn_3FOS14C5HoDv_Apxqw-GGKiyKCiaI2zfxfrTzpDQ0QhjmalmS_ZU/s1600/107_1100.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnkh0zK_qjW7Rkc25qJMq3jP0G33iUNNUC3HqgOTQvdbk77h71jFwnNL1LuawwDjOny8hsSQPa5uFiRcpjdohEqn_3FOS14C5HoDv_Apxqw-GGKiyKCiaI2zfxfrTzpDQ0QhjmalmS_ZU/s320/107_1100.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you can see, Myrta is a very red-toned orange and NOT a secondary or pumpkin orange. Don't be fooled! I tried to make sure my pictures are true-to-color.<br />
<br />
I really loved both of these colors but I have some comments. They both stained, Myrta more than Zuza surprisingly and I used base coat, so next time I'll have to double-up. The formula was very interesting; they both dried fast so I had some drag marks where the polish came up when I went over it a second time, so I would suggest working fast and as few strokes as possible.<br />
<br />
You can also notice the chip on my thumb that I hastily tried to cover up with another coat of polish. I don't think this is the fault of the polish, just so you know.<br />
<br />
This is a fun summer manicure and I love a good accent nail. What do you think about the Surf Collection?<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading!<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">H</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">ere's some more detail in case you have any questions about polishes or design:</span><br />
<u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Thumb: Olympic Rings '2012'</span></u><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Background is one coat of generic white topped with Sally Hansen Polar Bare and Orly Winter Wonderland. Rings are all made using Stripe Rite polishes. The 2012 was made using a nail art brush dipped in Barielle Gelt Me to the Party. </span><br />
<u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Pointer: Bicycling</span></u><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Background is For Audrey, Grass (which was sponged) and Road are both Stripe Rite polishes, person is made with a white Stripe Rite.</span><br />
<u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Middle: Water Polo</span></u><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Background is Dove dotted with virtually every Stripe Rite I own using a dotting tool, which I intended to be the crowd watching. The water is a mix of the blue Stripe Rite and For Audrey. Person, again, is the white SR.</span></div>
<div>
<u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Ring: Big Ben at sunset</span></u></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Background is a sponge gradient of SR Yellow, SR Red, and ChG Traffic Jam. The clock tower is San Tan-tonio, Dove, and White SR outlined in the black SR. Birds are also black SR. Lines of Big Ben are the Gold SR.</span></div>
<div>
<u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Pinky: Beach volleyball</span></u></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Background is For Audrey, sand is San Tan-tonio. Net and person is white SR, outline is black SR.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">For those of you wondering, my right hand is painted with no detail at all. Thumb and Middle are Zoya Dove (thumb is topped with Orly WW), Pointer and Pinky are For Audrey, and Ring is the same stamping gradient. So I've been quiet for the last couple of days because my mom, sister, and I headed to Baltimore for the weekend. My sister and her friend were going to Otakon, the anime convention that is held there every year, so my mom and I went to enjoy the sights and, of course, the food.<br />
<br />
I'll do another post about the things I bought there, but for now I'm going to show you the nail design I created for my sister. She was going to Otakon decked out in all of her Batman apparel: a belt buckle, earrings, converses, shirts (one for each day), a bag, sillybands, arm bands, lanyard ...not to mention all of the other Batman stuff she owns that didn't come with her. Needless to say, she's a huge fan and could talk for hours about any of the movies, TV series, or characters.<br />
<br />
So for this weekend, I did a Batman-inspired nail design for her. She didn't want Batman nails, but just nails that were black and yellow.<br />
<br />
Here's the recipe:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lightening (which, if you haven't noticed, is my go-to yellow), topped with one coat of Sally Hansen HD in Lite</li>
<li>To all but the ring fingers, I added one coat of the black glitter I bought in Spain</li>
<li>A black Stripe-Rite on the ring fingers</li>
<li>OPI Servin' Up Sparkle</li>
</ul>
The ring fingers were <i>supposed</i> to be topped with a stamp from Mash plate m72 (the slashed lines image), but of course, I couldn't find my stamper when I was doing this manicure. She was really bummed that she couldn't have the stamped image, but eventually I convinced my sister to let me do a similar-looking design on her ring fingers with a nail art polish. I think it turned out pretty good! Then I topped the design with OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.<br />

<br />
I have a short post for you today because I should be sleeping because I'm off to Baltimore tomorrow! I'm so excited =]<br />
<br />
I'm bringing back Face Paint Friday with this post. Here's a super quick cool-toned rainbow eyeliner look I did recently. I've really been into using bright eyeshadows on my lashline as liner lately. I love the effect =]<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiesKniEBGBZy6wM4WfMm-0LP3GZavj9iKIUSRef2buSgStjD_0PdGJRAwwk_AdXrpQ3TdYF_5pxjFvPezktm5_WwwkosPAWJ3M92DOmh5rnLpvBw3tbliLDRYASLR-oAwjfMyCZEsl90k/s1600/107_09641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiesKniEBGBZy6wM4WfMm-0LP3GZavj9iKIUSRef2buSgStjD_0PdGJRAwwk_AdXrpQ3TdYF_5pxjFvPezktm5_WwwkosPAWJ3M92DOmh5rnLpvBw3tbliLDRYASLR-oAwjfMyCZEsl90k/s400/107_09641.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xm5ia0aFYvwFsX1ZekefLaHXwxg_sKBKYhErR_Wb48xzjRstcB4hrhkVm8FiK0LvQeCpn8jN2gD5fyxWzSg-QJOVqN1OY_ibS4Z9AGAARCGLfMEjWAoXlTLzmloqUQBMd__wkMICwaE/s1600/107_09621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xm5ia0aFYvwFsX1ZekefLaHXwxg_sKBKYhErR_Wb48xzjRstcB4hrhkVm8FiK0LvQeCpn8jN2gD5fyxWzSg-QJOVqN1OY_ibS4Z9AGAARCGLfMEjWAoXlTLzmloqUQBMd__wkMICwaE/s400/107_09621.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I started with a base of my bright teal liquid eyeliner, a no-name brand that I got in the clearance bin of a Mandee's. The stuff has incredible pigmentation and staying power. While it was still wet, I layered green and purple eyeshadow on either side and added some yellow to the inner corner. I love the gradient effect. This is a great way to wear bright colors if you don't want to be obnoxious or feel self-conscious.<br />
<br />
What are your favorite bright eyeliners? I'm on the search!<br />

<br />
Today I really wanted to share with you an entry I made for a nail art contest. I really loved the result!<br />
<br />
First I started with two coats of OPI San Tan-tonio for opacity. Then I added thin lines with my gold Stripe Rite to use as guides.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRLoo5xJZX1vFxaF91cD5tlniG-TPcm4M1LD4N9cbRhIKo1OHoayevQl-riwIATK2ivHOcdjG134Y6c0UxHYTtej9a_yfk6q0vb1dyg49456KtEyrQ93KP8JYzwLIF_PgauuUeKf7u_-0/s1600/107_07571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRLoo5xJZX1vFxaF91cD5tlniG-TPcm4M1LD4N9cbRhIKo1OHoayevQl-riwIATK2ivHOcdjG134Y6c0UxHYTtej9a_yfk6q0vb1dyg49456KtEyrQ93KP8JYzwLIF_PgauuUeKf7u_-0/s400/107_07571.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I just filled in the lines using the nail polish's own brush in one straight swipe of lacquer. I did have to retrace my lines a few times, but they ended up pretty straight.<br />
<br />
The red is OPI Bullish on OPI, the orange is a mix of Finger Paints Courdur-Orange and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Lightening, the blue is Zoya Breezi and the purple is OPI No Spain No Gain. The accent nail is a bunch of 3mm and 2mm rhinestones in coordinating colors that I got from the Born Pretty Store. Jewel tones are by far my favorite color family!<br />

Sorry that my absence was longer than I thought! I was burnt out from volunteering and took a couple days to do literally nothing.<br />
<br />
Today I have for you a special holiday manicure! The reason I was volunteering last week is because my town has a very long-running (137 years, to be exact) festival to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Taken from the Mt. Carmel Society webpage, the Mt. Carmel Society, who organizes the week-long festival, "is an independent nonprofit Catholic Organization formed in 1875 by Italian immigrants new to Hammonton, New Jersey, who took time to celebrate their safe journey to America and a successful harvest by giving praise and thanks to the blessed Virgin Mary." The 16th of July, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, is regarded as a holiday like any other; for example,school and town offices have off!<br />
<br />
Since this festival is deeply rooted in Italian tradition and I myself am Italian-American, I did a festive manicure!
Lots of layering was involved for this. All red areas are two coats of OPI Color So Hot it Berns with one coat of OPI Animalistic on top. Green areas are two coats of Orly Wandering Vine topped with both China Glaze Glittering Garland and Zoya Ivanka. The white is a no-name white cream topped with Orly Winter Wonderland. Here's the result:

Hello!<br />
<br />
How are you doing today? I'm spending my week volunteering at our Mt. Carmel festival serving sandwiches, so there aren't going to be many posts.<br />
<br />
I had to stop in to show you my current manicure, a China Glaze Summer Neon: Pink Plumeria. I debated this one but it looked pretty unique so I got it. I actually need to go back and get Splish Splash and Orange You Hot? because I passed on those and am regretting it. Hopefully I won't be too late!<br />
<br />
I started with a base of 2 coats of Pink Plumeria and then stamped it using the flower image on Mash plate m64 twice; the first time I used Essie Shifting Power and the second time I used Barielle Gelt Me to the Party. Neither polish is a good stamping polish since the image never completely transferred either time, but together they create a delicate look.<br />
<br />
Oh, and please excuse these pictures. My white balance auto correct turned my hands/everything blue-ish, but the polish color is true to real life.<br />
<br />

<br />
I think I've caught the China Glaze Summer Neon fever....it started out slowly and I thought I needed only five...but I think I'm going to go back and get the rest of the shimmer ones. I better go soon!<br />
<br />
So today I have I'm with the Lifeguard, a shimmery neon green. This polish is super bright! I was afraid the shimmer would make it look streaky, but it didn't! Two perfect, easy coats. My pictures here show one coat of Out the Door topcoat, too.<br />

How gorgeous is that shimmer? It's a little yellower in real life than it looks here; sorry for my bad photography! What do you think of this polish?<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading! Do you have Summer Neon fever?<br />

<br />
Today I'm bringing you my latest obsession: the Sephora + Pantone Universe Collector's Edition Set in 2012's Color of the Year, Tangerine Tango. Oh my goodness this is awesome.<br />
<br />
So Tuesday, July 3rd was my fourth dating anniversary with my boyfriend. Since he usually gets me polish, I told him to let me make some suggestions as to what I wanted instead of him going in blind to look for himself. I sent him the link of this on the Sephora site and didn't get to send him anything else because I couldn't make up my mind as to what Illamasqua polishes I want =P<br />
<br />
Then, on Tuesday, I thought I'd have to feign shock as I opened up one of my gifts since I knew what it was, but I really <i>was</i> shocked because this thing is huge! Here's a picture. It's 14 x 8 inches for reference.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRQNfa145kolfml7ZeDljNO6iQpe7ArTXkwOc9-2KuSGl4i8ASc7zqw3KIX5sLXJ0VTEHSx1raf5n26GnKBc4fK1BqNG2PhyphenhyphenbHXIjWSOoSAh1w7gsxn-ZKJ8gkyFoYoYxiJuzizF3ZBKg/s1600/107_0896.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRQNfa145kolfml7ZeDljNO6iQpe7ArTXkwOc9-2KuSGl4i8ASc7zqw3KIX5sLXJ0VTEHSx1raf5n26GnKBc4fK1BqNG2PhyphenhyphenbHXIjWSOoSAh1w7gsxn-ZKJ8gkyFoYoYxiJuzizF3ZBKg/s320/107_0896.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Seriously? This thing is gorgeous. And all of the individual pieces are huge as well! I thought that since this was a set the components would be small-ish, but these are huge even for individual pieces.<br />
<br />
The inside:<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Super blurry picture of the eyeliner. My camera did NOT want to focus on it. But it's a really soft point that writes very easily and twists up. I'd say it's a true Tangerine Tango shade - a very red-orange - that isn't as coral as the other pieces of the set. The name on the liner is "Tangerine Tango Twist." It has microglitter in it that is barely noticeable but flickers when you move; the particles are so small that it reads as a shimmer. Love this and can't wait to rock it on my upper lash line!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZEylBSx5NxPpT5wIy6hJ6Mv5MzCK0r_317OkbSbUkKF7c3_OYdPAUtJefIev1umwwaHE_jhNQVUOIQuTRr1-QGvhso6uAlvdCZn0foh0mDduoHTj_btDTWWnUy9lvdV4lAi50VydUca8/s1600/107_0904.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZEylBSx5NxPpT5wIy6hJ6Mv5MzCK0r_317OkbSbUkKF7c3_OYdPAUtJefIev1umwwaHE_jhNQVUOIQuTRr1-QGvhso6uAlvdCZn0foh0mDduoHTj_btDTWWnUy9lvdV4lAi50VydUca8/s320/107_0904.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Um, yeah, this quad is <i>gigantic</i>. The frosted top of this attaches by the four magnets that you can see at the corners. They are super strong, maybe even too strong (you really have to pull to get it to come off), and you definitely do not have to worry about it coming off accidentally. They 'snap' fiercely into place. The cool thing about this closure is that you can also twist the top to expose the shadows and have it attached by just two adjacent magnets. Clockwise, these shades are Carnelian, Scallop Shell, Sparrow, and Pavement. They're all shimmery, Carnelian with coordinating shimmer, Sparrow with magenta shimmer, and Scallop Shell and Pavement both with multi-colored shimmer. Love.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up is the Prisma Chrome blush. I've seen tons of raves about this product, and it's super pretty, especially the 3D design. This color is called Apricot Brandy and it's a peach with gold, orange, and perhaps green microglitter. Again, they are glitter specks that you can pick out, but the blush reads as a shimmer. I found the packaging a little hard to open at first, but like the other pieces, it's definitely secure and won't open unless you want it to. Love it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's the lovely blush duo, featuring Desert Flower and Coral. Desert Flower has mostly a flat finish with very sparse shimmer particles and Coral features the same shimmer/glitter as in Apricot Brandy: gold, orange, and green. This duo has the same strong magnetic closure as the eye quad. Again, how huge is this? </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's the gloss! The shade is Tangerine Tango Luminous and it's a light-medium orange with a red undertone and some orange, pink, and gold microglitter. Despite the name I wouldn't say this is a true Tangerine Tango shade as it's not dark or red enough, but it's still really nice. Note the unique, flexible applicator! This shade is pretty but I'm not sure if I'm sold on how sparkly it is. In my experience, even after the gloss is gone, your lips are still sparkling. Oh, another thing: this gloss has an almost fruity scent to it and no taste. </div>

<br />
Next up is the lovely lipstick in Tangerine Tango Cream. Unlike the lipgloss, this is the true TT color: a deep red-orange. This has the same fruity scent as the gloss and I love the ridges in the bullet. Another awesome thing about this lipstick is the magnetic closure; you can hear it click shut as the pieces attach, so it's really secure and the cap won't come off in your purse (cough experience). Very pretty and bright. Can't wait to wear it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbdtcKf0sY6j_fPTHHfiJu7YTiYPv5DL36D6945QAU8sx0ilogxwH2Q-gBcuXSQ-mLISTLbzsPb_ECKG1ggi3U0EmYl1g_GithInKvFCyCBJ7BlCDkpwyJPLB6vamp1iPTWtH7QWDFEWg/s1600/107_0918.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbdtcKf0sY6j_fPTHHfiJu7YTiYPv5DL36D6945QAU8sx0ilogxwH2Q-gBcuXSQ-mLISTLbzsPb_ECKG1ggi3U0EmYl1g_GithInKvFCyCBJ7BlCDkpwyJPLB6vamp1iPTWtH7QWDFEWg/s320/107_0918.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Finally, here are just two swatches: the gloss and eyeliner. Imagine the gloss swatch (top) a bit more of a true orange; it photographed a little too coral and too bright. Oh, and don't mind my translucent skin. I'm an NC 15/20ish for reference.<br />
<br />
<br />
So yeah, I'm obsessed with this and keep opening it up to play and swatch. I didn't do formal swatches of the shadows or blushes but i did apply a bit to my fingers and rest assured that these are pigmented. I can't wait until there are more colors of the year so I can have more collector's sets! They're still available as of today on sephora.com if you're interested! I highly recommend if you don't mind shimmer.<br />
<br />
<br />
The only negative thing I can think of, and it's just a technicality, is that the orange pieces of this set are not all true Tangerine Tango shades, but I can understand that that shade is not as flattering or wearable for all skin tones, and the coral/apricot/carnelian derivatives are much less obnoxious. That being said, I love that they all aren't true TT shades; it gives variety and compliments the shade instead of the user drowning in it. I just had to think of a negative so this post has some authenticity =P It's only a negative thing if you <i>want</i> to drown in it.<br />
<br />
<br />
PS. My nails in this post are my <a href="http://cleverandcolorful.blogspot.com/2012/07/berry-ombre-manicure.html" target="_blank">berry ombre</a> from yesterday!<br />
<br />
<br />
Do you have anything from the Sephora + Pantone Universe line? And another important question: When you have collector's sets or LE pieces, do you hoard them and leave them pristine, or use them? I'd love to hear!<br />
<br />
<br />
Thank you so much for reading! What do you think of this set?<br />

<br />
I'm back today with a Clever and Colorful first: an ombre manicure. Ever since I started my blog in July 2010, I've wanted to try an ombre manicure. For some reason, I found them incredibly intimidating because I never thought I could create the <i>perfect</i> fade on my nails and I'm super picky.<br />
<br />
But on Tuesday, when I was looking for a pretty berry color to compliment my beige dress and printed shoes, I pulled out OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries and then a bunch of other berries and reds from the OPI Colección de España and I put together a little group. I could have probably used other polishes to make a smoother fade but I decided to stick to all the same collection for some consistency.<br />

<br />
The middle finger started out as just Pamplona Purple but it looked more like a skittles mani than an ombre so I mixed one. I'm really liking this look and it's fun to wear different shades on your nails! I can't believe I waited so long to try it..it's definitely not as hard as I thought!<br />
<br />
So how about you? Have you tried an ombre manicure?<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading!<br />

Happy Fourth to my American readers! And happy hump day to my non-American readers =]<br />
<br />
This year for the fourth of July I didn't do my nails because I had just done them the day before to celebrate my dating anniversary with my boyfriend, and I wasn't ready to get rid of that manicure yet (I'll post that tomorrow). So nail blogger fail.<br />
<br />
But I did do something fancy to my hair using my <a href="http://cleverandcolorful.blogspot.com/2012/06/rainbow-hair-hair-chalking-101.html" target="_blank">hair chalking tutorial</a> to celebrate this holiday. Take a look:<br />

So I hope everyone had a great day! I spent mine with family eating great food and watching fireworks! How did you celebrate the fourth or spend your Wednesday?<br />

<br />
Just a short, late-night post for you guys. Here is OPI San Tan-tonio. At first glance, this polish seems rather plain or boring, but it's a really pretty neutral and a great mannequin hands or underwear shade for your collection. It's a bit darker than my skin tone, but each time I paint my nails with this shade it's like painting my nails with "skin out"....like white out but in a skin tone shade. For reference, I'd say I'm like an NC 15 normally, probably NC 20 right now for reference, so if you fall in that range or darker I'd say this would be a great nude shade for you!<br />
<br />
This is two coats. It definitely could have been one coat but my pressure was a little uneven, so the color was a little thin in spots.<br />
<br />

This post is scheduled because I'm away for the day....hopefully it posts.<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyway, here's something quick to show you. These Sally Hansen HD polishes were at Five Below, advertised as 2 for $3. So needless to say, I got six. I'll show you all six even though my pictures aren't the greatest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0R2xinYb0kkmBYk-BRulcLxTAGZKMrX62CdK25UMS543_P6LposmSWLfqLI2eJfilNh7v-UOR-rtHDrICLYAoN_Mnaty3V7GZzpqWyB4bZZjm72cNLUtKDpXX5CFEDABoCPz0wAevPoc/s1600/104_0392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0R2xinYb0kkmBYk-BRulcLxTAGZKMrX62CdK25UMS543_P6LposmSWLfqLI2eJfilNh7v-UOR-rtHDrICLYAoN_Mnaty3V7GZzpqWyB4bZZjm72cNLUtKDpXX5CFEDABoCPz0wAevPoc/s320/104_0392.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is Lite, a standard yellow shimmer. Rather sheer and very shimmery. This was four coats.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw8CiPbzRtuce5bjTu_2DfdhPcRlD5XvPez2jEk4vjs18F86x428FvrIqhuRmEkBs8TXpVZz04-jcBqsdUEq_ubT201U5iuz9NaxXKnO7ZwNSIx3A5nnNEtCZxI-fog8bEqDBXeAPYH48/s1600/104_0401.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw8CiPbzRtuce5bjTu_2DfdhPcRlD5XvPez2jEk4vjs18F86x428FvrIqhuRmEkBs8TXpVZz04-jcBqsdUEq_ubT201U5iuz9NaxXKnO7ZwNSIx3A5nnNEtCZxI-fog8bEqDBXeAPYH48/s320/104_0401.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is Digital, a coolish pink shimmer. This was is also pretty sheer but a nice color if you don't have anything like it. Shown is 3 coats.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPQI3dLapBXnxI2Nav8Cw1FZ5mFboDBR052tZ3jcj7-biSLt7fkP8-CS1k6H6HwRCz5amw7KLCR2PeZ7L9OY3OQdnmG_5EtJ8GkCW9iHLNubuxWppgZZvpVAZIW9XKI-vs_tGF7JXbSnM/s1600/104_0404.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPQI3dLapBXnxI2Nav8Cw1FZ5mFboDBR052tZ3jcj7-biSLt7fkP8-CS1k6H6HwRCz5amw7KLCR2PeZ7L9OY3OQdnmG_5EtJ8GkCW9iHLNubuxWppgZZvpVAZIW9XKI-vs_tGF7JXbSnM/s320/104_0404.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Hi-Def, a light, yellow-green shimmer. This one is rather unique for this collection, but sheer. This is also 3 coats.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2WzMLMr5qBJCrgqSLIrqAGDsKskUDUsREVkOnmMyYlC9qcNGp2qXKpvsOW-Ce5nGe_QkxZQteGVKWTQ04e1IK1lhBJ8tKNy6GFvs9RoVnHbkTnnXpekdNyyNtw7gVbLXfzezAyXuUAA/s1600/104_0407.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA2WzMLMr5qBJCrgqSLIrqAGDsKskUDUsREVkOnmMyYlC9qcNGp2qXKpvsOW-Ce5nGe_QkxZQteGVKWTQ04e1IK1lhBJ8tKNy6GFvs9RoVnHbkTnnXpekdNyyNtw7gVbLXfzezAyXuUAA/s320/104_0407.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Up next is Cyber, a really striking deep purple shimmer. This one is a bit more opaque, needing 2-3 coats. I really liked this one as I don't have many purples.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsbximUO6iXH9WwXvxbem6uriRnhymmgiS20TrFaks0X8ZWQ4rWCtapJ8DzlT_GRT1g676-pm-L8qGKc4PxKxfje6aAcBPuuucWzaii14TlEIa1QCWdHsvkiGdJNcbIcC77h8evSQQnzM/s1600/104_0419.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsbximUO6iXH9WwXvxbem6uriRnhymmgiS20TrFaks0X8ZWQ4rWCtapJ8DzlT_GRT1g676-pm-L8qGKc4PxKxfje6aAcBPuuucWzaii14TlEIa1QCWdHsvkiGdJNcbIcC77h8evSQQnzM/s320/104_0419.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's Pixel Pretty, which I only got because I needed a 6th polish. Your run-of-the-mill turquoise shimmer, related to OPI Austin-tatious Turquoise and $OPI Who Let the Dorks Out. It's pretty if you don't have anything like it I guess. 3 coats.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivIG8OVX3bIg1OoCgYXaGPjNjQ-n9Iw3JUIDKI4orHdjt-GmrShHuTJji4kFfj6FhNiN9ZG8Ni5bIJxxYFpNFPGuJ9o4dc5WGRMHfCnMsBO3cBWlkRcx_PSE6L3ihp6rs3OKURW9s4UcU/s1600/104_0429.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivIG8OVX3bIg1OoCgYXaGPjNjQ-n9Iw3JUIDKI4orHdjt-GmrShHuTJji4kFfj6FhNiN9ZG8Ni5bIJxxYFpNFPGuJ9o4dc5WGRMHfCnMsBO3cBWlkRcx_PSE6L3ihp6rs3OKURW9s4UcU/s320/104_0429.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally, the most unique and prettiest of the collection if I do say so myself, BLU. And blue it is. It's a rich shimmery cobalt that was very opaque. 2-3 coats needed. Really worth getting if you like blue!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIdJGF6PsVaBtNz744t6YXUWeZOGanqCg8DGJ1-IUwgK-cUplSOb6-AdtZiB-VgTHXTNHgv5TY0FFISNydq-rnq6O5Ce90WdwRL5oi1Y7V3QzvshvgIp-ewqHEEPOMmafcHN4kmFYhGzA/s1600/104_0433.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIdJGF6PsVaBtNz744t6YXUWeZOGanqCg8DGJ1-IUwgK-cUplSOb6-AdtZiB-VgTHXTNHgv5TY0FFISNydq-rnq6O5Ce90WdwRL5oi1Y7V3QzvshvgIp-ewqHEEPOMmafcHN4kmFYhGzA/s320/104_0433.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My camera is awful. Anyway, last time I was at Five Below, these were still there, so take a look if you're interested. Do you have any HD polishes? I feel like this line was sort of a bust...<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading!<br />

<span style="background-color:;">Hey everyone!
This is a quick post because I'm going with my boyfriend's brother to his college orientation tomorrow! Here's one from the vault. The bright lime green polish is from Icing and since I'm not home, I don't have the name handy. (EDIT: It's Icing's Absinthe.) </span><span style="background-color: ;">But you wouldn't want this polish anyway; it was streaky and sheer. It's topped with OPI Rainbow Connection though, so that makes it better.</span><br /><ol>

<br />
I'm so so excited to give you this post today. I can already tell it's going to be a little long-winded so bear with me as I ramble (or just scroll down and ignore me). And I'm gonna say this now so I don't have to repeat myself: All pictures are clickable, they're just little for the sake of saving space and my camera sucks and won't ever focus.<br />
<br />
As you probably know, Pinterest (follow my <a href="https://pinterest.com/janna423/" target="_blank">personal account!</a>) is a wonderful thing. One night several months ago, I was scrolling through and came across many pictures of hair with rainbow streaks. Anything multicolored really strikes me and I fell in love. Turned out that some of the pictures I was looking at weren't done with actual dye, but with CHALK! Soft chalk pastels, to be specific, and it's a really cute, temporary way to experiment with color, coordinate with an outfit, or try out a potential new color in your hair before you actually take the plunge (which is what I want to do...more in the P.S. at the end of the post!).<br />
<br />
So here's what you need:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihsMn8OcjMqxQLQlEZdcfqr8_MG-MxNewKKOP7W78Cy3XNIXuRcFGmvh-WQEUlmYKv6VdUTcsUddRZv7rlr67Tj7hWP25duqSDeV3bQTEEvciEAxd_AxbIgfN6lkt_W_silyEBTkwgxNw/s1600/107_0680.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihsMn8OcjMqxQLQlEZdcfqr8_MG-MxNewKKOP7W78Cy3XNIXuRcFGmvh-WQEUlmYKv6VdUTcsUddRZv7rlr67Tj7hWP25duqSDeV3bQTEEvciEAxd_AxbIgfN6lkt_W_silyEBTkwgxNw/s200/107_0680.JPG" width="200" /></a>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">A box of pastels (these were lovingly stolen from my sister, but can be found at Michael's, any other craft store, or online) NOTE: products can be found online that are actually marketed as "hair chalk," but they are at least twice the price and I'm sure that these are basically the same thing! Don't be fooled.</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">Water (pretty much everywhere, fo' free)</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span id="goog_592776259"></span><span id="goog_592776260"></span></div>
<ul>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">Gloves (optional...I didn't use them)</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">A sheet of paper (optional...I didn't use this either)</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">...Hair? ...Hands? (Those are the easy ones)</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Okay, so there are two techniques to applying these chalks to your hair.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWfYXCxv4_knywc6oPjobeAN9XFlE9XV5ztHu0qLhA4YHQUAJX0T1dB1mWrHJGt3j80HrlAUN-j1pHg8cIcW4XK0Us61FoBJkiV2R2tCTtLJM7gSGk4bTE9ysXV5R5uP1o2CMD2RZSovA/s1600/107_0686.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWfYXCxv4_knywc6oPjobeAN9XFlE9XV5ztHu0qLhA4YHQUAJX0T1dB1mWrHJGt3j80HrlAUN-j1pHg8cIcW4XK0Us61FoBJkiV2R2tCTtLJM7gSGk4bTE9ysXV5R5uP1o2CMD2RZSovA/s200/107_0686.JPG" width="200" /></a><u>Step 1:</u> Grab a strand of hair, be it part of your bangs, a small piece underneath, or a large piece running the entire length of your hair. If you're brunette, soak this strand thoroughly. If you're blonde, I've read that you may not need to wet it to get color to appear, and that doing so can even stain the hair. However, I did a strand of my mom's blonde-from-a-box hair (sorry, mom) and I needed to wet it to get any color to show up. Experiment with this.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkRTCEpmjWj_5_fRVja5hqYB45rQIDYfm52rN00EKB_fH2B_O3KvPaFZc4rp20uIbKgWmx9yF4aLhjk8cy1HeapJP5eLnrG9q1H_g_pb6pgIcdx3KCBSePkpY-LeqMKjsEg2-Nn_INdMo/s1600/107_0689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkRTCEpmjWj_5_fRVja5hqYB45rQIDYfm52rN00EKB_fH2B_O3KvPaFZc4rp20uIbKgWmx9yF4aLhjk8cy1HeapJP5eLnrG9q1H_g_pb6pgIcdx3KCBSePkpY-LeqMKjsEg2-Nn_INdMo/s200/107_0689.JPG" width="200" /></a><u>Step 2a:</u> This is the first technique I learned. Grab said wet strand of hair and put it into your hand or down flat onto a piece of paper. Grab the pastel in the color of your choice and, going in ONE direction only, from the top of the strand going downward, color onto the hair. Going in two directions will mat the hair. Channel your inner 3 year old for this step.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Step 2b:</u> This is a second technique that I used, and it is a bit more messy than the first (though whichever you choose, you will get your hands - or gloves - dirty). Wet the chalk pastel of your choice and color into your hand in a circle, creating a "pool" of the color. Using one finger, dip into the concentrated color and then onto the strand, transferring the pigment. NOTE: this created a much wetter piece of hair and will cause a longer dry time.<br />

<span style="background-color: transparent;"></span><br />
<span style="background-color: transparent;"><u>Step 3:</u> Continue with whatever pieces or colors you choose, rinsing your hands or changing your gloves from time to time as to not mix colors. When you're done, your hair will look something like this:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVV5u5XBSlBzJotH688cSqDpMvDzTehI9UP_bfUnNcgL6cyysj9CytgQ_-zaC_CyfPEu_CePCCMNzPPRfVsZuTtHycBn4ZFBnFvL-j2El5wMExUgW0cJuvG4h6J2N5Fks3ogJKBRshxcI/s320/107_0697.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="320" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">If it looks like a clumpy mess, you're doing it right.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="background-color: transparent;">Here, I used teal, red, orange, green-yellow, pink, and indigo pastels, to give some variety. The majority of the colors were done using technique 'a' while the indigo and the one tinyy strand of red that's showing up pink were done using 'b'.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKkKctzt9O4fyyfXQF0ZbySdsyTsrFm3eiEfeOcSOF_pZ-Q-oipeL2iIO_580qh1Vwg2og1vJ-kDZrCN2iKYmrHkEhAAnbrLc2cRWb1nGWLi_TEP6_DJHXU3NNucEAKiDJQdoKdXcr_WA/s1600/107_0719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKkKctzt9O4fyyfXQF0ZbySdsyTsrFm3eiEfeOcSOF_pZ-Q-oipeL2iIO_580qh1Vwg2og1vJ-kDZrCN2iKYmrHkEhAAnbrLc2cRWb1nGWLi_TEP6_DJHXU3NNucEAKiDJQdoKdXcr_WA/s200/107_0719.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I'm using a 1" Argan Heat One 'n' Only iron. <br />
Also, white balance fail.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<u>Step 4:</u> Turn on your curling or flat iron. Wait until the strands have dried and then comb them through slightly using your fingers if they look like a hot mess, like most of mine did. Use your appliance on the hair to lock in the color and style as you wish! NOTE: The chalk will start to come off on your hands and appliance, but you can get it off easily. Adding hairspray may lock in the color better, but I haven't tried it yet.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's the finished product and I absolutely love it:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUptRT7bXZFsC3on78ubA159shbbVTsiNL3FRU8oYVoxyFmbQH_7C-kcuUpfsfh4RsZ3tnRRvseWd6fFGr1NWIrKvQiafSX6VizdkSu2PmRDonEJjaiS-OgAxxhliZPK6lradFizxvQzU/s1600/107_NEW2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUptRT7bXZFsC3on78ubA159shbbVTsiNL3FRU8oYVoxyFmbQH_7C-kcuUpfsfh4RsZ3tnRRvseWd6fFGr1NWIrKvQiafSX6VizdkSu2PmRDonEJjaiS-OgAxxhliZPK6lradFizxvQzU/s640/107_NEW2.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gorgeous, right? Or do I look like a clown?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Here are some bonus pictures of my first attempt at this! I followed procedure 'a' exclusively and didn't use heat at all.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkieonZIon-eJKt1QobuDFa6ATwwXqMfXt2LE5ta5Hw5v3btNDBjBMo5dSVFsoztO_lhEcsQkBND1IjdDaMYpot2-JZ9GO6mvPCmww5YcDgxsvw0cpnV7M8rRel5RtS-9UFTxwaYnZzA/s1600/107+NEW.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxkieonZIon-eJKt1QobuDFa6ATwwXqMfXt2LE5ta5Hw5v3btNDBjBMo5dSVFsoztO_lhEcsQkBND1IjdDaMYpot2-JZ9GO6mvPCmww5YcDgxsvw0cpnV7M8rRel5RtS-9UFTxwaYnZzA/s640/107+NEW.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">LOVE.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Wear time: I've done this twice to my hair now and both times, I slept with it in and the color lasted overnight, but then washed out in the shower. So this is just meant to be temporary.<br />
<br />
Other notes, 'cause I just don't have enough:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">It may stain things it comes in contact with, so don't blame me!</span><span style="background-color: transparent;"> It also comes off on your hands and appliances as I said.</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">After you wash this out, be sure to add extra conditioner to the spots you colored, since the chalk is drying.</span></li>
<li><span style="background-color: transparent;">I've read not to use actual sidewalk or chalkboard chalk because it's even more drying and less pigmented, in case anyone was curious. To repeat, these are 'soft chalk pastels' that you would use in an art class.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
So that's about it. Let me know if my tutorial was clear and if not, I can try and clear some things up for you. There are a bunch of written and video tutorials on this technique throughout the interwebz so you should find your way just fine.<br />
<br />
Please let me know if you try this! I'd love to see a picture or read any comments you have.<br />
<br />
<br />
P.S. I'm really loving the look of this bright color and have been wanting to do something more permanent for a few months now. I'm thinking about bleaching the very tips of just some strands of hair throughout my head and using some brand of semipermanent color on them in a bright-but-not-neon pink, a light orange, a deep teal, and a very true purple, kind of creating the look of my first attempt but with a real purple (though I am really liking the rainbow...). Sort of dip-dying some strands. The problem is, I'm completely at a loss about what brand I should use! So if you have any recommendations, <b>please</b> let me know. I was leaning toward Special Effects, but now Manic Panic seems a little more appealing because it is more widely available. I was also unsure of whether or not I should bleach. I just want something that lasts!<br />
<br />
Thank you guys so so much for reading! And special thanks to my sister who was my photographer and proofreader. Are you going to give hair chalking a try? Any feedback is appreciated.<br />
