Rainbow Glitter!

Hey everyone! This is a quick post because I'm going with my boyfriend's brother to his college orientation tomorrow! Here's one from the vault. The bright lime green polish is from Icing and since I'm not home, I don't have the name handy. (EDIT: It's Icing's Absinthe.) But you wouldn't want this polish anyway; it was streaky and sheer. It's topped with OPI Rainbow Connection though, so that makes it better.

The Evolution of My July 4th Mani!

Good afternoon!

So I'm about to take this mani off, but I keep putting it off since I have about 9 layers of polish and some serious glitter on my nails and I know it's going to be awful. Here's how my Fourth of July mani evolved!

First, I painted my nails with two coats of Revlon Plum Baby, a mauve/purple cream. I didn't take a picture of this alone; I only intended it to be the base for the next polish I used. Next, I used three or four thick coats of Icing Bird of Paradise on top of the Revlon. Bird of Paradise is a wine-colored jelly with a ton of iridescent glitter. I wore it like this for about 5 days:

I did like this even though the color is a little tame for my taste, but the glitter kept it interesting.

Then, I was going into NYC and wanted more sparkle, so this mani was topped off with two coats of Cover Girl City Lights, which is your typical silver holo topper. No picture of this, but you get the idea.

This past Saturday, I wanted red, and since I was dreading taking this off, I layered one medium coat of China Glaze Phat Santa, a red, I guess, jelly, over it, just to see how it would look. I ended up LOVING it, so this was the next stage of my mani =]

The glitter shows beautifully under the red. I guess you can say this is my "half sandwich" manicure.

And yesterday was the fourth of July, so I decided to incorporate some nail art onto this red, even though I didn't really go anywhere celebrate. On accent nails, I painted half my nail on the diagonal with China Glaze First Mate, a gorgeous navy cream. I also got out my stamping plates and used BM21 (many stars and swirls) and BM05 (the big star) along with Design-a-Nail polish in Frostbite, a plain white. I actually really love the result, even though it took all of 3 minutes and came out a bit sloppy. It served its purpose. After that, I topped with one coat of an old Wet n Wild 413, which is just a clear polish with very fine silver glitter. Here's the final mani!

So, yeah, all in all, I think there are about 10 coats of polish on my nails, lol! But I got absolutely no chipping throughout the whole week or more I've been wearing it. Pretty impressive! Oh well, time to take it off now!

Do you ever "recycle" manis like I did? Or keep layering until your end result is completely different from your first mani? I ended up really liking how drastic the change was despite the thickness!

A Bunch of New Goodies!

I'm typing this post with naked nails....AH!

I really truly need to stop buying nail polish. And I'm thinking you guys are pretty tired of reading all my hauls. But here's another, and hopefully it's my last for a while! lol

This isn't really a haul, seeing as some were gifts and some were purchased at different locations. So I'm basically saying this is all my new polish from the last week or so.

First up is an Amazon order that just came in today! I added China Glaze Atlantis and Seche Restore to my cart. I think the ChG was 1.99 (but had 5 dollar shipping, ugh) and the Seche was 7-8 dollars or something.



I picked Atlantis because it's teal, it's a glitter, and it has tons of holo glitter too! I didn't realize just how much holo there was packed inside this bottle! And I grabbed the Seche Restore because my local Sally's didn't have it...and I was pretty much having nightmares that my Seche Vite would thicken when I needed it most. =]


Next I have a couple of polishes that were purchased for me as a gift from my boyfriend's brother. How sweet is that? And he has good taste, too!


Color Club (no name...), Icing Blackout, Icing Nail Art polish in Red, OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous.

I've been dying to try Color Club, and I didn't know you could actually buy them in stores! I can't seem to find a name on this...but it's a super bright neon orange, leans slightly more red. Maybe Wham! Pow! from their Spring '10 collection? (EDIT: I'm leaning toward Orange Revenge actually.) The Icing polish, a black with holo glitter, I almost bought during my last mall trip, so I was really happy about that, and this is my first Icing nail art brush! Also, I was on the fence about OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, but now that I have it, I really love it. And I don't know why people hate its name with a passion. I think it's kind of cute! But it is a pain to say.

Bottom Row: Mark Kiss Therapy Lip Balm (with SPF 15) in Shimmering Coral, and two bottles of Nail Experts Adhesive Base Coat

The Lip Balm and Base Coat were on sale, in their Clearance catalog, and I've read good things about the base coat so I snagged two bottles. I have another Kiss Therapy Balm in a light pink shade and it's great, so I picked this one up. The balms have a rose scent to them, which initially I didn't like, but it's grown on me. I really like the red shimmer my new balm gives to the lips, and SPF is always necessary. I'm going to try the basecoat in my next manicure, so I'll keep you posted on that.

All the nail colors I got from Avon are really pretty and the pictures are accurate. I can't wait to try them! I decided to pass on their new blue shade, Vintage Blue, but every time I see a swatch of it I think I want it. Any thoughts?

This is sure to be a quick post, since I only have two Icing nail polishes.

Paparazzi and Chase Me

These are definitely unique in my collection.

Paparazzi. This color is AWESOME. Kind of a rosey copper base loaded with shimmer, glitter, and chunky holo glitter! Click to enlarge!!!



I really like how this one (above) came out. HOLO GLITTER!



You'll pretty much be blinded by this polish. This is three thin-ish coats. The formula was chunky, but what else can you expect? It wasn't a huge pain to remove, but I think some of the holo glitter stayed stuck to my skin for at least the whole rest of the day. BUT WORTH IT!

Chase Me. Cute name, pretty color. This one is a dark teal matte polish, much darker than the bottle picture shows. At first I thought it'd be close to Orly's new polish from the Plastix collection, Viridian Vinyl, but this is darker and bluer. (I don't own VV, but this is what I can tell from swatches by others.)





Dried really fast and showed every application flaw, as mattes do. I thought this would be more opaque; this is three coats. I'd say it's more of a satin than a super flat matte finish. I definitely want to wear this a lot come fall, but I may have to either put it over another polish or practice better application skills (or both).

That's all for this time. I purchased these (obviously) at a store called Icing in my local mall for $4.50 each. What do you guys think?
