Sinful Colors - Dumpling

Hello there!

First of all, I'm going to try using Flickr for my images, since Blogger was taking forever, and hopefully it'll work out.

Today I took Zoya's Audrina off my nails, even though it was on day 4 with only standard tipwear and no chipping at all, cause it was time for something different. This is a color I just bought from the new Sinful Colors collection called Dumpling. I don't think I have ever worn yellow nail polish and I actually like it a lot.





This is four, YES FOUR, thin to medium coats of Dumpling (no topcoat), and there's still plenty of VNL. I've never in my life worn four coats of one color of nail polish. EVER. (Pay no attention to the lack of cleanup in all of these pictures.) I have to admit though, I really like this color. Eventually I decided to add a FIFTH. . . insanity.





The nails on my left hand are just sad looking, so I try to take pictures of my right hand, but then it's hard to take the picture. . . ANYWAY. It definitely looked a little better with the fifth (head shakes in disapproval) coat of Dumpling. I should have thought to put a layer of white down first. Then I used a thin coat of Sally Hansen Nail Protex strengthener as my top coat (it's also what I used as my base).





So, that's about it. This yellow is really pretty. I'd describe it as a bright standard yellow with a shimmer finish. When I look closely there are little reddish orange and maybe green shimmers, but they aren't super noticeable from far away. I had a bittersweet first Sinful Colors experience; I really liked the formula, drying time, etc., but the color wasn't opaque at all. I'll definitely have to remember to put some white under this next time.


In other news, I dyed my hair yesterday. Semi permanently, but still. My hair used to be medium brown, but it has gotten lighter lately and has started to pick up gold highlights. I bought a semi permanent dye, Clairol's Natural Instincts in "Pecan," a golden brown, with the intent of using it to bring out the gold tones in my hair, buuuuut, it actually made my hair darker. (I know, I know, semipermanents aren't supposed to lighten, but I thought it'd at least tone it.) So now my hair is deep brown with a bunch of red where my gold highlights were, and I actually love it. I'll post updates about how the color is holding up on my hair =] That's it for now!

My First Haul Post

Let me start off by saving that I LOVE when makeup is inexpensive. Yesterday I went shopping at a Dollar Tree and Rite Aid in my town, and this is what I got:

Dollar Tree:

Top Row: e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color quads in Punk Funk and Butternut

Middle Row: Nail Art Kit distributed by Greenbrier International, Inc., L.A. Colors Art Deco polishes in Bright Green, Silver, and Blue Glitter

Bottom Row: L.A. Colors Art Deco polishes in Bright Orange, Black, Red Glitter, and Baby Pink, L.A. Colors Color Craze polish in Static Electricity.

First off, I had NO IDEA that e.l.f. was sold in Dollar Trees. That was super exciting. These are my first e.l.f. eyeshadows and I can't wait to try them out. I was also super happy to find the Art Deco polishes, and I've never used them, since I usually use the Stripe Rites sold in Sally's. I actually even had one of the employees climb a ladder to make sure I had all the colors! lol. Finally, Static Electricity seemed like a really cute denim blue, so for a dollar, why not?!

Then I was off to Rite Aid, where I made a couple more purchases:

Left to Right: Sinful Colors in Dumpling, Sinful Colors in Bamboo, Wet and Wild Shine in Sparked, Wet and Wild Shine in Sunny Side Up, and N.Y.C. in Starry Silver Glitter.
The eyeshadow is Secret Weapon by Jessie's Girl Cosmetics.

I've never tried Sinful Colors before, and the only reason I looked twice at the display was because Bamboo reminded me of Jade is the New Black by OPI, which I have really really wanted ever since it came out, even though Bamboo has a slight shimmer to it, while JITNB is a cream finish. But I'll try out Bamboo and see if it satisfies my craving =P The Wet and Wilds and the N.Y.C. polish were each 99 cents. I'm super excited about Sparked because I need a good glitter polish and it looks awesome in the bottle; it's kind of a mauvey pink fine glitter.

Jessie's Girl is also a new brand for me, and Secret Weapon looks absolutely beautiful. It's a white iridescent powder, so it also appears blue and lavender. Can't wait to try that one!

Zoya Gossip Collection/Audrina

This is my first experience with Zoya nail polish! =]

A couple of weeks ago, I was reading, watching videos, and researching nail polish, and I came across the Zoya brand, which I had never heard of. I started following them on Twitter, and they announced that they would be giving away 5 free Gossip collections in honor of the series finale of The Hills. All you had to do was tweet a certain phrase between 10PM on the 13th til 11AM on the 14th, and you were automatically entered to win. So I gave it a shot, and I ACTUALLY WON! I have random luck like that sometimes.

The polishes are gorgeous and are named after the characters on the show:

Left to right: Audrina (berry purple), Whitney (cool toned fuchsia), Lo (light, bright pink), Elodie (pink based coral), Heidi (bright orangey coral), and LC (medium red). All polishes are cream finishes and are super glossy.

The collection is awesome and these are great standard colors for anyone's nail wardrobe. I'm wearing Audrina in the pictures, and I just love it. My nails look...juicy - there's no other way to describe it - and they remind me of a grape popsicle!

The camera didn't pick up the purple that well, and I guess purple just doesn't photograph well to begin with, so imagine this as more of a deep berry. I'm in love with this color and I can't wait to try the others. Thanks Zoya for letting me try your product =] They were really easy to put on, dried quickly, and, from what I can tell after 3 days, are quite long-lasting. I'll be placing an order soon!
