Avon - Jade

Hey everyone!

Sophomore year in undergrad started Wednesday so I haven't been posting =[ But here I am!

Today I have Avon - Jade. I've seen this color on other blogs, and it's just so pretty. I really like Avon; I have a ton, and for the price they're really awesome. I also picked up the new colors Urban Grey and Olive Green, but here's Jade:

This is taken on like the 5th day or so of wear...and it still looked pretty good. Application was nice, 3 thin coats and topped with Seche Vite. Base coat is Avon from the same line. In case you couldn't tell, this is a muted seafoamy (?) kind of green, cream finish, really pretty, maybe it's close to the Chanel color of the same name? I wouldn't know. I've never even seen a $25 nail polish, let alone owned one.

As you can see, I chopped my nails off after wearing Paparazzi, and having short nails is so much easier! I might keep them shorter for fall since I hope to start wearing darker colors, but we'll see.

Since I'm at school, my background is green (cause, well, my sheets are green =P), and my roommate, who was my photographer, thought that the green background made the polish look more green than it was. So, to be fair, here's a picture taken on her teal blue sheets:

Definitely looks different =P And OH HELLO chips. Like I said, this was day 5. I hate having to wear polish that long, but there's no way I'm going to be able to get spare time during the school week to change polish.

That's all for right this second. I'm in the middle of another manicure right now, so maybe you'll get another post out of me this weekend before I start another week of school. What polish? Hint: It's not fall just yet!

Thanks for reading, and thanks to my followers =]

A Bunch of New Goodies!

I'm typing this post with naked nails....AH!

I really truly need to stop buying nail polish. And I'm thinking you guys are pretty tired of reading all my hauls. But here's another, and hopefully it's my last for a while! lol

This isn't really a haul, seeing as some were gifts and some were purchased at different locations. So I'm basically saying this is all my new polish from the last week or so.

First up is an Amazon order that just came in today! I added China Glaze Atlantis and Seche Restore to my cart. I think the ChG was 1.99 (but had 5 dollar shipping, ugh) and the Seche was 7-8 dollars or something.

I picked Atlantis because it's teal, it's a glitter, and it has tons of holo glitter too! I didn't realize just how much holo there was packed inside this bottle! And I grabbed the Seche Restore because my local Sally's didn't have it...and I was pretty much having nightmares that my Seche Vite would thicken when I needed it most. =]

Next I have a couple of polishes that were purchased for me as a gift from my boyfriend's brother. How sweet is that? And he has good taste, too!

Color Club (no name...), Icing Blackout, Icing Nail Art polish in Red, OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous.

I've been dying to try Color Club, and I didn't know you could actually buy them in stores! I can't seem to find a name on this...but it's a super bright neon orange, leans slightly more red. Maybe Wham! Pow! from their Spring '10 collection? (EDIT: I'm leaning toward Orange Revenge actually.) The Icing polish, a black with holo glitter, I almost bought during my last mall trip, so I was really happy about that, and this is my first Icing nail art brush! Also, I was on the fence about OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, but now that I have it, I really love it. And I don't know why people hate its name with a passion. I think it's kind of cute! But it is a pain to say.

Finally, a recent Avon order:

Top Row: Avon Nailwear Pro in Lagoon, Jade, Urban Grey, and Olive Green
Bottom Row: Mark Kiss Therapy Lip Balm (with SPF 15) in Shimmering Coral, and two bottles of Nail Experts Adhesive Base Coat

The Lip Balm and Base Coat were on sale, in their Clearance catalog, and I've read good things about the base coat so I snagged two bottles. I have another Kiss Therapy Balm in a light pink shade and it's great, so I picked this one up. The balms have a rose scent to them, which initially I didn't like, but it's grown on me. I really like the red shimmer my new balm gives to the lips, and SPF is always necessary. I'm going to try the basecoat in my next manicure, so I'll keep you posted on that.

All the nail colors I got from Avon are really pretty and the pictures are accurate. I can't wait to try them! I decided to pass on their new blue shade, Vintage Blue, but every time I see a swatch of it I think I want it. Any thoughts?

Do you own any of these? I've really added to my collection this past month! lol. Stay tuned for some swatches of these new products!

E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color Looks/Review

Hello everyone!

I'm going to talk a little about the e.l.f. quads I picked up a while back. They're mentioned in THIS haul post, and I got them from the Dollar Tree.

(In my first few posts I was using my sister's old camera. . . but recently I've switched cameras and the pictures are SO much better. Anyone notice? lol)

I was really suprised to see that e.l.f. was sold in the Dollar Tree in my town, so I picked up two of the Brightening Eye Color quads, Butternut and Punk Funk.

Butternut

Punk Funk

I love the colors in each of these, even though I never wear anything like Punk Funk in real life. I only got that one because the colors were so pretty and bright, and I used my "it's only a dollar!" mantra that I've been using too much lately.

One thing I noticed with these right off the bat is that you really need to use a base (like a cream eyeshadow) or a primer, at least in my experience. If not, the colors don't show up nearly as pigmented as they look and they come off very easily.

I did two looks using these quads; one used just the Butternut colors, and the other used just the Punk Funk colors. Here's what I came up with:

(NOTE: I am NOT a professional =P)

Butternut:

The first two pictures are more close to real life, especially with how they show the dark shadow in the crease. The second two photos got washed out.

I love these colors! They were really easy to blend and I love the outcome =]

I used the first shadow (lightest) as a highlight, the second color (peach) on the lid, the fourth color (brown shimmer) in the crease, and the third (dark brown) in the outer corner.

Now onto the COLOR! Here's Punk Funk:

That last picture (click to enlarge) really shows the glitter that's in these colors!
Super bright, especially for what I'm used to wearing, but I actually really like this =]

Blending was the most difficult part about this look. I used the first color (white) as a highlight, the fourth color (pink) on the lid, the second (blue) as a crease color, and the third (purple) on the outer corner and on my lower lash line.

This is kinda close to how it looks in real life, but the colors show up a lot darker in person. Maybe the flash washed it out? (It was SO hard taking these!!)

These are additional things I used in both looks:
100_0231
CQ smartliner in black (waterline), e.l.f. liquid eyeliner in black (upper lash line), L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara in black, e.l.f. Defining Eye Brush, and the lightest color from the "dreamy" cream eyeshadow trio by Avon for my base.

I think these are great for only a dollar! (I didn't use the applicators that come with them, so I can't give you an opinion on those.) I've been wearing these for at least 3 hours so far, and no creases =] You can find them at the eyes lips face website, in Target, or in a Dollar Tree store.

Do you own anything from e.l.f.?

Oh, and just for fun....
